Welcome to Wharton United Community Church
We’re glad you’re here!
Worship

We meet at 10:30am on Sundays in the sanctuary and on Facebook Live. We celebrate communion weekly.
Our worship combines a traditional style with an informal, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Jeans or a button-down, straight from work or ready for soccer practice, we want you to feel right at home.
We love to explore new, creative expressions of praise and to have fun through things like puppet shows and Holy Humor Sundays.

Who We Are

At Wharton United Community Church, we are called to be a safe, nurturing place for everyone to explore and grow in spirituality, faith, and service.
We are a combined United Methodist and Presbyterian congregation, though many of our members come from other Christian backgrounds or have no previous religious connection at all.
Outreach

Hope’s Table is one main way we give back to our community. Everything we do is free or donation based. Get more information here.
We regularly join community partners for other outreach opportunities throughout the year, like a toy drive at Christmas, Blessing of the Animals, and a prayer walk on Good Friday.

History
Wharton United Community Church (WUCC) was born from the merger of the United Methodist Church at St. John’s and Wharton United Presbyterian Church. We celebrated our first service as a new congregation on October 1, 2006.
Both of our predecessor churches have long historic roots in Wharton. The Methodist Church was founded in 1868 at our current location at 20 Church Street. The Presbyterian Church began life in 1901 as the Luxemburg Presbyterian Church on Main Street near Dewey Avenue.
Our Dedication to Community
From the beginning at WUCC, we have dedicated ourselves to being a warm, radically inclusive community of faith that supports one another in love and reaches out in service to our neighbors. One of our longest-standing ministries is our community food bank (now known as Hope’s Table), where we care for those facing food insecurity, no questions asked.
Connections
We belong to both the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church (www.gnjumc.org) and the Presbytery of the Highlands of the Presbyterian Church USA (www.highlandspresbyterynj.org).
Mission Statement
We pray with our eyes open!
We are a community of faith-filled people, the hands and feet of the Body of Christ, working together with the dynamic community around us.
A place where ALL people are accepted, loved, and supported.
ALL means ALL!
